Fund for an Open Society

Fund for an Open Society is a non-government, non-political and non-profit organization that develops and supports systemic developmental policies, programs and activities aimed at the advancement of democratic cultures and all they entail. This includes openness, affirmation of differences, and full respect of human rights. It also promotes the principles of the rule of law, good governance, accountability and the participation of citizens in public affairs. Ultimately it works on the establishment of the self-sustainable democratic and pro-European development of society, fortifying stability and cooperation in the region of Southeast Europe, and the inclusion of Serbia in European integration.

The Fund for an Open Society in Serbia is a part of an international network, the Open Society Institute, whose founder is George Soros. The main source of income for the Fund for an Open Society are donations from its founder, but also other donations, gifts, and bequests, and self-made income as well.

Emergency Fund to help vulnerable groups cope with the impact of the global economic crisis

George Soros, multimillionaire and philanthropist, established an Emergency Fund to help vulnerable groups cope with the impact of the global economic crisis in twenty countries of Central and East Europe, including Serbia. The Fund will provide up to $100 million over the next two and half years.

What EU brings? Case studies on the impact of rapprochement to the EU in the field of ecology and human security, agriculture and regional development and cross border cooperation

Project is designed and implemented by the Fund for an Open Society and Centre for Applied European Studies. This project is financed by the EU through the European Integration Fund, a programme managed by the Delegation of European Commission in Republic Serbia and implemented by Press Now.
